Below, you will find a number of websites that offer internship opportunities in the humanitarian and development sector. Should your approach to internship hunting be different to job hunting? Read this article for an answer. NB: Internships are in principle aimed towards current students or recent graduates. Trainees on the other hand have in principle already one year of releated professional experience and may have completed their education for some time. Both will have a formal contract with the organisation hosting them and may receive a salary. Volunteers have for the most part no legal contract and may only receive reimbursment for expenses. The use of these terms does however change from country to country, as for example, many NGOs in France send "volontaires" to the field, and so does VSO.
